Baby Mama Belly Bulge

I know it has been said time and time again, but let me say it again, “Women are amazing!”.  We grow humans, making us literal “body builders”. Having these small humans in our lives is an immense blessing but our bodies take a beating through the process.

One common complication of pregnancy is ‘diastasis recti”. Diastasis recti occurs when the left and right abdominal muscles separate, leaving a gap down the middle. Mild diastasis, especially immediately after giving birth, is normal, the result of natural stretching during pregnancy. However, long-lasting diastasis or a gap greater than 2 1/2 finger widths is abnormal. The condition can cause back pain, incontinence, abdominal weakness, belly bulge, and an increased risk for hernias.  Certain exercises and movement patterns can cause these symptoms to worsen over time, but there is hope. Warroad PT can help!

Diastasis can often be corrected by specific, properly-performed, exercises that target the abdominal muscles as well as pressure control. We can tell you what movements are harmful and how to avoid them.  You don’t have to “just live with it”.

Warroad Physical Therapy leads the area with the best conservative treatments available to get you on the road to recovery…for good! Before you know it you will have your body back.
